Only cryingEvery sound

Place the phone near the cot.

A mother in a burgundy dress plays with her child on the living room floor.
How it works

Three settings. Then it simply listens.

1

Choose a number.

Pick a contact or type any number. A mobile, the landline at grandma’s, the phone of whoever is babysitting.

2

Set how closely it listens.

From “only crying” to “every sound”. You can test it with a call before you leave the room.

3

Place the phone by the cot.

Plugged in, screen off. When your baby cries for three seconds, your phone rings. Answer and listen in. Hang up, and it keeps listening.

No Wi-Fi. No second app. Just a call.

Calls any phone.

The other phone needs nothing. No app, no account, not even a smartphone. A landline works too.

Works wherever there is signal.

At friends’, in a holiday flat, on a campsite. Within the EU, roaming usually costs nothing extra.

Nothing leaves your phone.

No account, no cloud, no internet permission. The app listens on the phone and only ever places a normal call.

A baby's hand rests on a curtain in the afternoon light.
A mother sets the dinner table with her baby on her arm.

“We had dinner at my parents’ and didn’t check once.”

Questions

Good to know.

Does the other phone need the app?

No. BabyCallsYou places a normal phone call. Any mobile or landline can answer it.

Does it need internet?

No. It only needs mobile signal, like any phone call. The app has no internet permission at all.

What does a call cost?

Whatever your phone plan charges for a normal call. With most flat-rate plans that is nothing.

What happens after I hang up?

BabyCallsYou waits 30 seconds and then listens again. If your baby keeps crying, it calls again.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. iPhones don’t allow apps to start a phone call on their own, so the idea only works on Android for now.

What about the battery?

Listening all night uses power, so keep the phone plugged in. The app warns you when the battery runs low.

Is this a medical device?

No. BabyCallsYou is not a medical device and does not replace supervision. It needs mobile signal, battery and an active phone plan.

Go downstairs. We’ll call you.
